Examiner (for Vocational qualifications)

Examiners are responsible for marking candidates' scripts to the agreed mark scheme.

Typically a examiner must:

  • receive an agreed number of scripts and mark a sample of them for the Standardisation Meeting;
  • attend a Standardisation Meeting for each examination series, at which the mark scheme is discussed;
  • mark all scripts within a specified time period; and
  • receive mentoring and supervision from a supervising examiner.

To apply, you must:

  • be a fully qualified teacher with three years' recent teaching experience in a relevant vocational area;
  • have a broad understanding of assessment methodology and internal standardisation;
  • have the ability to work well under pressure;
  • have the ability to meet deadlines;
  • be competent in the use of ICT;
  • be eligible to work in the UK; and
  • meet enhanced criteria which may apply.

Ideally, you will:

  • currently teach one of the CCEA specifications, or have a broad knowledge of the vocational area; and
  • have examining experience.

We also welcome applications from teachers and lecturers who are fluent in Irish, or have experience in Special Educational Needs, who are qualified in this specification area.
