From September 2012 new assessment arrangements have been in place to support the Northern Ireland Curriculum. These include arrangements for assessment of the cross-curricular skills of Communication, Using Mathematics and Using ICT in Key Stages 1, 2 and 3.
Schools assess and report pupils' progress in the cross-curricular skills. At Key Stages 1, 2 and 3 teachers assess and report with reference to the Levels of Progression for Communication, Using Mathematics and Using ICT. (The Levels of Progression for Using ICT are coming into use from the 2016-2017 school year). Schools should report numerical outcomes to parents and to CCEA at the end of each key stage.
