Information on Exemptions from Statutory Curriculum and Assessment

All children at the end of Key Stages 1, 2 and 3 (Y4, Y7 and Y10) should be assessed within the end of key stage assessment arrangements unless they have a statement of severe learning difficulties. This means that those children who have statements of moderate learning difficulties should be part of the assessment arrangements in the same way as other children.

There may, however, be exceptional circumstances in which children who would normally be part of the arrangements should not be assessed. The range of such circumstances is outlined in Information for Principals on Exemptions from Statutory Assessment, the link to which is given below.
