- Developing thinking skills means designing learning so that learners will think more skilful than they would otherwise do.
- Developing the personal capabilities means creating opportunities for learners to experiment with ideas, take initiative, learn from mistakes, work collaboratively and become more self-directed in their learning.

The Thinking Skills and Personal Capabilities framework aims to help learners develop their skills for lifelong learning and operating effectively in society. It includes information about progression maps, as well as supporting activities and resources.

This course is available to all teachers in Northern Ireland and is an excellent way to get a quick refresher on what the thinking skills are and on how to use the SEN Thinking Skills & Personal Capabilities framework within your school. There are also resources for coordinators to run a directed time session.
